Passed away peacefully at the Algoma Manor, Thessalon, on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. Ruth in her 82nd year, beloved wife and best friend of Charles (Bud) Clavet for over 55 years. Loving mother of Keenan (Darlene) of Wawa, Anne Louise of Big Trout Lake, Anthony (Tammy)of Essex and Michael (Brandy) of MacKenzie, BC. Special Nana to Stephanie, Jordyn, Scott, Dakota, Quinn, Adeline and Keenan and Great Grandmother of 3. Ruth was born in Box Hill, Victoria Australia to the late Bernard and Leah Keenan. Dear sister of the late Marjorie Johnson (Fred) of Canberra, Australia and the late Peg Eadon (Frank) of Box Hill North, Australia and sister-in-law to the late Robert Clavet (Julie) and the late Alfred Clavet. Special friend of Roy and Caroline Madigan. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews in Austrailia and Canada. . Ruth completed her schooling at Queen Victoria Memorial Hospital in Melbourne, Australia as a nurse in 1958 and continued her education until finishing her midwifery in 1960 prior to arriving in Canada. Ruth emigrated to Canada in 1961. She worked in the nursing field until settling in Thessalon in 1980 as administrator of the Thessalon Hospital until her retirement in 1999. Ruth’s yearning for education in the medical field never ended. In November 2015, Ruth was recognized by the Ontario Government and was presented with a Provincial Life Membership in the Hospital Auxiliaries Association of Ontario with Leadership & Executive Service in recognition of her dedication to volunteerism and her belief in the power of altruism to change lives for the better. Ruth’s most proud accomplishment was her four children. A special thank you to the Algoma Manor caregiving staff for the wonderful care given to Ruth during her stay.
